In 1966 Reykjavík, Steinþór sat in candlelit silence as medium Hafsteinn spoke. “Many spirits seek you,” he said. A drowned youth, Gunnar, thanked him for his obituary. An old cousin walked cane-free. Steinþór left certain: life continued beyond death’s veil.

Almost a millennium ago, supernatural powers prompted men to build a church they called Strandarkirkja . Ever since it has been known as a miracle church. People travel from all over the world pouring out their heart’s desires inside its small interior. Promises of money, gold and precious things are offered in exchange for an answer to their prayers. 

That’s how the spiritists knew how to help the dead this time. Each time was slightly different, but they had learned that we need closure on events in this life to rest in the next. Therefore, we need to do what we can to help them on their journey.

As soon as he said those words, he felt a spirit-being attach itself to his right side, on his bare skin. The spirit-being was so tight up against him it was like his Siamese twin.
