Rev Þorvarður’s letter on behalf of Margrét

Spread the love

In the name of Jesus, in the name of Gods son, I answer to a Christian subject that I promise all my friends and good-doers that I will not charge anyone nor charge Margrét Þórðardóttir nor shall anyone in my parish, rather it shall be happy for all those who are on her side and put in a good word so she can be amongst people out in the open. In one word it should be spoken and written that I and my parish should never terrorize or cause any harm to Margrét. We ask that everyone be her brothers and sisters in God, both in life and in death for the Lord our Jesus Christ, Amen.

God Almighty, the father of all mercy which He has forever intended, for the bloody, pricy sacrifice, his son Jesus Christ our Savior. He doesn’t want anyone of us to be lost, rather receive a happy life. He knows best that I his sinful slave was there to help both me and all my brethren and sisters in whatever situation I find myself in. For all men who fear God know that I terrorized the departed person in my parish, Margrét Þórðardóttir and will not be corrected with God and men.

For now God-fearing men do well wherever she is or appears in comforting her and strengthen her with the word of God and with healthy advice and especially with the good and caring God knowing men with freedom in Christ from which nothing bad is proven on her since she took the sacrament at the altar in Árnes Church and it is true that both I and all my parish are glad to see it and would rather that she has everything good from it, live long and have the best of luck, praise God and the upbuilding of religion, herself to honor and most and best to eternal happiness and soul help for the Lord our Jesus Christ Amen. September 3rd 1658. Þorvarður Magnússon

Of pure heart and with my own hand written. This is my humble request that Margrét Þórðardóttir will me and my friends and relatives as well as we wish her, with clean thoughts and heart so all the evil will pass with god´s intervention that which the heart investigates.

Þorvarður Magnússon
